Sometimes you can learn from reality TV
Sometimes you can get great ideas by watching reality TV. Wait, did I really just say that? I think I did. Well sometimes you can. Monday nights at 8pm I’m usually glued to the TV screen. Celebrity Apprentice had a good episode on which the two team’s task was to use a mobile boutique to create a marketing event to promote Ivanka Trump’s shoe line which is sold at Nordstrom’s. Ivanka’s Trump’s line targets the needs of the modern working woman. The two team’s duties were to bring Ivanka Trump’s power up concept to life. This episode was right up my alley (marketing, fashion, branding) and as a designer or boutique this episode could be helpful for you.

I’m going to give you highlights of the episode.
On Team Infinity, Kenya wants to recreate the luxury of shopping at Nordstrom, focusing heavily on incorporating a baby grand piano and chandeliers into the décor. She also came up with a catchy slogan “Power Up Your Sole”
On Team Vortex, Geraldo came up with the team's slogan. He wants to use the trademark Ivanka "I" to create taglines such as "I am a girlfriend / mom / working woman."
Notes from the boardroom
Team Infinity
In terms of slogans, she liked "Power Up Your Sole" much more than the "I Am" campaign
Team Vortex
Kenya did go above and beyond from a creativity standpoint, with photos and videos of the product
The winner: Well if you want to know you should watch the video below. I won’t spoil it for you if you want to watch it. However, here are my thoughts and ideas about this episode especially if I was a designer or had my own boutique.
If I had a line/boutique, I would use a mobile boutique. For readers who are in the Hampton Roads area, imagine if you had a mobile boutique and the truck was designed to fit your brand. Imagine if you take that truck to Town Center where clients who have the type of money to spend on your line can see your line and could purchase it. Then you take the truck to a place like the Oceanfront during the summer where all those tourists are. It would be a great way to market your line in VA. You could take the truck anywhere in the area where your customers are. Check out what the two team’s truck looked like from the outside. If you want to see pics of the inside you’ll have to watch the video.

If you want to see the full episode, I found the link for the video so you can watch it. Tell me what you think about the episode. Would you try using a mobile boutique to sell/market your line? Why or why not?
